Reduce
Minimise the waste of energy and materials by only buying what you need, while looking for items with reduced packaging; avoiding single-use items and repairing existing ones where possible, shopping locally and if able, travelling without the car to reduce transport emissions.
Re-use, Repair
Repairing or re-purpose existing items to give them a longer life-span e.g. containers that can be re-filled or items that can be up-cycled into something completely new. Selling or donating belongings and shopping second-hand allows many useful items to be used more than once.
Recycle (and responsible disposal)
Allow for the recovery of useful, and sometimes rare, resources by separating waste and recycling appropriately. See our Recycling Page for a guide to Recycling in Inverclyde.
